Homer Bust
This is the homer bust. Homer was one of the famous poets of ancient Greece. And his half body sculptures were made of marble. Marble is a highly crystalline limestone, widely used in architecture and sculpture in ancient Greece due to its white appearance and sturdy properties.
Homer’s curly hair was combed to the back of his head, and he had a beard. Although he was blind, his eyes were bright and lively. Sculptors accurately depict Homer’s facial expressions and body postures through meticulous carving to express his thoughts and emotions.
The hardness and solidity of marble material enable Homer’s half body sculptures to withstand the erosion of time and natural forces. And therefore can seen in the collections of many museums and collectors. Homer’s bust sculpture is not only a precious heritage of Greek culture. But also one of the important works in global art history.
The Introduction of Homer
Homer μηρος/ Homer, approximately 9th to 8th century BC, was a blind Greek poet. According to legend, he wrote a comprehensive account of the Trojan War from the 12th to the 11th century BC, as well as the representative works of ancient Greek epic narratives about maritime adventures – the epics “Iliad” and “Odyssey” – based on popular short songs.
He lived between the 10th, 9th, and 8th centuries BC. His masterpiece, The Epic of Homer, has influenced Western religion, culture, and ethics for a long time.
