Sleeping Faun Sculpture

This is the bronze sleeping faun sculpture created by sculptor Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The Faun rested on the rock with his naked body and eyes closed. He put a thin blanket on his waist in front of him, with his legs tilted, as if he were asleep.

The sculpture captures the perfect figure, smooth skin, and lazy posture of the god of agriculture and animal husbandry. The scattered grape clusters and flute symbolize the joyful revelry of the pastoral god. His pointed ears and tiger skin clothing symbolize his wild instincts.

Despite his peaceful sleep, he was tied to a tree stump by a mischievous pervert with a tiger skin rope. Hosmer utilized exquisite carving techniques to depict various delicate textures such as the sexy body of a farming god, rough tiger skin, mossy forest floor, hard grapes, and the thick curly hair of a pervert.
