This front porch lion statues is a sculpture and war memorial in the public park of Fubury Garden in Reading Town, Berkshire, UK. This statue was named after the Battle of Maiwand to commemorate the death of 329 soldiers of the 66th (Berkshire) Infantry Regiment during the Second Anglo-Arab War in Afghanistan from 1878 to 1880. It is sometimes called the Fowley Lion locally. It designed and completed by the sculptor George Blackall Simonds. The lion is one of the largest cast iron statues in the world.
