Laocoon And Sons Sculpture

It shows the bronze laocoon and sons sculpture. It depicts the scene of Trojan priest Laocoon and his sons Antiphantes and Thymbraeus entangled by sea snakes and dying.

The story of Laocoon was once the theme of a lost play by Sophocles, and was also mentioned by other ancient Greek writers. Laocoon, in order to demonstrate that the Trojan horse was a scam, stabbed it with a long spear, only to be killed. The venomous snake sent by Athena, Apollo, or Poseidon. The death of Laocoon convinced the Trojans that Trojan horses were sacred objects for sacrifice.
