Lion and Snake Sculpture

This is a bronze Lion and Snake Sculpture designed by artist Antoine Louis Barye. This bronze statue vividly depicts the fierce struggle between the lion and the snake. The snake on the ground raised its head and was ready to attack, while the huge lion crouched with its back bent, ready to fight back at any time. The roaring voice of the lion seems to ring in the ear, which makes people tremble. The sculptor also slightly exaggerated the muscle tissue of the lion, further enhancing the intensity of the fight. This statue was created by Antoine Louis Barry in the 1830s. Before that, there has never been a sculpture showing animals in this way. In Barye’s sculpture, animals are no longer simple decorative elements, but become the theme of the work.
